Get to Know Ridgewood
Ridgewood Middle School is a neighborhood school located in southwest Shreveport. Though built in 1965, it represents the ethnic, economic, and cultural mix that now defines our city's diverse population. Educating the whole child through curricular and extracurricular activities is our main focus. The faculty and staff consist of a principal, two assistant principals, three counselors, one librarian, and 37 teachers. Other staff members include an English/Language Arts content coach, a math interventionist, a speech therapist, an instructional specialist, a behavior specialist, 11 paraprofessionals, and a school resource officer. According to the most recent Principal's Report Card, 82% of the instructional staff are highly qualified, and the average number of years of experience is 16. Ridgewood, which serves students in grades 6, 7, and 8, houses one of three Dyslexia Programs in the parish and serves as the Middle School Center for ESL students. As a Math, Science, and Technology school, the academic spectrum ranges from special needs students to the Gifted and Talented.
